Rotimi-FasakinA member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria, Mr Rotimi Fasakin, says the current administration of his party had done a lot that Nigerians are not aware of because they may have been underreported.

He said that the current government of President Muhammadu Buhari was very much interested in getting to the foundation of the nation.

“This government is doing a lot and may be many of these things are underreported,” the APC member said.

Listing some of the efforts he claimed the current administration had made, he said: “For the first time, Nigerians are seeing a budget process that is made to go through all the rigours.

“It is the first time that the President is putting his fit down and said he was not going to sign a budget that he will find un-implementable for himself”.

The 2016 budget had been delayed due to allegations and counter allegations.

While the executive claims that the National Assembly had added some projects to the budget which were not initially there, the National Assembly said it helped the executive to clean the ‘shabbily prepared budget’ up.

Defending the executive, he said: “The Executive prepare the budget but you and I know that the budget also went through some legislative padding which in the last 16 years have been allowed to go without any interference.

He claimed that the budget was padded before it got to the National Assembly and that the lawmakers further padded the budget.

He, however, attribute the disagreement between the executive and legislature on the budget to what he called a blending process, pointing out that the party would need some time to establish collaboration between its members.

According to him, people had come into the party from other political parties.
