Ado-Ikere Ekiti Road Dualisation Reaches Final Phase

Akwa Ibom, RoadThe Akwa Ibom State government has threatened to blacklist contractors handling road construction projects, whose performance is below the state government’s specification.

The state’s Commissioner for Works, Ephraim Inyang-eyen, gave the warning on Friday while inspecting ongoing road construction projects across the state in southeast Nigeria.

Mr Inyang-eyen said that the aim of the inspection was to ascertain the projects that were ready for commissioning by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, to mark his one year in office on May 29.

He disclosed that a total of 11 roads were ready for commissioning while many others were at different stages of completion across most of the 31 local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner commended some of the contractors for the quality of work done and their commitment to delivering the projects according to specification.

He, however, warned that the state government would not hesitate to blacklist those who perform below specification.

Mr Inyang-eyen said that the state government was not only committed to the construction of good roads but also to ensure effective networking of the roads to encourage economic and social development.
