The Abia State command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) has arrested an oil vandal who specializes in stealing and packaging blue gas in white cellophane bags for sale.
Shortly after parading the suspect at the NSCDC office in Umuahia, the State Commandant, Dr. Benito Eze, said that the officers of the command have been on the suspect trail, investigating his moves before he was finally apprehended with his accompanists.
A Volkswagen Golf was also impounded during the arrest.
Dr. Benito hinted that the command has intensified the anti-vandalism campaign to flush out oil thieves in the state.
According to him, unprecedented surveillance has been mounted on all the oil pipelines across the state.
The NSCDC boss warned vandals to stay clear or get ready to face arrest and prosecution.
