A Public Affairs Analyst, Ayobami Oyalowo says that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) is empowered to by law to investigate anyone that has done anything against the law, even the president of the country
He stated that “if there is a case that the AGF has taken over, if you have a good defence, go to court, defend yourself and move on”.
Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, he compared the case of the South African President where he was mandated to return certain amount of money” he took from the public treasury with the trial of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
He further stated that it was only in Nigeria that a “small man” would be arrested and taken to jail but in the case of a “big man If he is arrested he should go to court and defend himself”.
The Public Affairs Analyst noted that no one was above the law, and that in an era of change, everyone should feel free to go to the court and defend his case.
He insisted that it would be a step forward for Nigeria to be able to prosecute anyone no matter his position.
