Andrea-LeadsomUK Minister of State for Energy, Andrea Leadsom, has pulled out of the race to become the next Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader.

The Minister admitted that a nine-week leadership campaign at such a critical time would be “highly undesirable” for the United Kingdom.

She also said that she did not believe she had the adequate backing to lead a strong and stable government.

Mrs Leadsom noted that UK Home Secretary, Theresa May, was the right candidate to succeed Mr David Cameron.

She added that Mrs May was “ideally placed” to implement Brexit, and wished her the “greatest success”.

Mr Cameron had resigned as UK Prime Minister after Britain voted to leave the European Union.

Flanked by his wife Samantha, Mr Cameron said, “The British people have voted to leave the European Union and their will must be respected.

“The will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered.”
