Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, says his administration will continue to support health institutions across the state to be the best in training the required manpower for the state’s health sector.
He stated this while commissioning the Doctors’ Quarters and the Female Hostel of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala, a project initiated by the previous administration.
The governor also donated the sum of N20 million towards accelerated finishing of the Modern Library Project of the hospital towards fast tracking accreditation, as the library is the major pre-requisite for the hospital accreditation.
Governor Obiano urged the students of the institution to imbibe the mind set of service and be dedicated to their studies while assuring that the state is committed to sustaining the partnership with missionary institutions in the area of health and education.
The Managing Director and CEO of the hospital, Rev. Fr Ugochukwu Onuorah, said the state government’s grants and support to the hospital have helped upgrade the hospital facilities, and the hospital can now provide quality health service.
The Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese and host of the occasion, Most Rev. Hilary Okeke, expressed appreciation to the state government for its support in uplifting the health standards of the mission for better service delivery to the people, urging the governor not to relent, as he will be leaving a legacy that will speak volumes after his tenure.
