Ondo governorship election, INEC

INEC, Edo StateCounting has commenced in all the polling units where rerun elections were held in some parts of Imo State.

Our crew members, who are on ground to monitor the election in Isiala Mbano, Ihitte Uboma, Ehime Mbano and Oru East Local Government Areas of Imo State said, so far the election has been peaceful as no violence has been recorded in any part of the state.

Even though there was low turnout of voters, which can also be attributed to the heavy downpour, some electorates who reacted to the election process commended INEC and security for the peaceful conduct of the election.

Speaking to Channels Television, the APC candidate in the Imo North senatorial district Ben Uwajimogu said he’s optimistic that at the end of the process he will emerge victorious, adding that there were minor hitches of card readers and missing names initially but was later rectified.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Athan Achonu, said there were irregularities in the election process, especially the malfunctioning of card readers and ballot snatching in some areas, which he said is a calculated attempt by the APC to rig the election.
