Korede Taiwo, Ogun StateOgun State government has adopted a nine-year-old boy, Korede Taiwo, who was chained by his pastor father for an alleged stealing habit.

The state government also promised to take care of the young boy’s educational needs among others.

The disclosure was made on Tuesday by the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Modupe Mujota.

She spoke while the wife of the Governor, Mrs Olufunso Amosun and other members of the State Executive Council paid a visit to the boy.

The Commissioner for Justice, Olumide Ayeni, also said that the government has commenced a legal process to bring to justice, all actors in the case of Korede Taiwo so as to serve as a deterrent to others.

Korede is being treated for child abuse and chronic malnutrition at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba in Abeokuta, the state capital in southwest Nigeria.

He is said to be in good condition and responding to treatment.

Mr Francis Taiwo, Korede’s father had confirmed to Channels Television that he actually chained his son, saying his action was borne out of his desire to rid the boy of his ‘stealing spirit’.

He said that he felt the young boy was possessed and after consulting with some spiritualists, he was advised to chain the boy to rid him of the evil spirit.
