IDPsThe Yobe State Government has applauded the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Ashraf Salama for his contribution to the upkeep of the Internally Displaced Persons in the state.

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam represented by his deputy Abubakar Aliyu who doubles as the chairman of the relocation and well-being of IDPs in the state gave this remarks when he received the Minister of State Foreign Affairs Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, who led the Mr Salama to deliver food and other non-food items to victims of Boko Haram insurgency in the state.

He said the insurgency has seriously taken the state backward as schools, water supply and health care facilities worth billions of Naira were destroyed.

He added that apart from loss of several means of livelihood, the people also went through severe psychological trauma and the state is presently faced with the challenges of reconstruction and relocating the IDPs to their ancestral homes.

The Governor, however, called on other diplomats, friendly countries and spirited individuals to come to the help of the displaced people.

On the security situation that engulfed the state, Mr Salama expressed sadness saying no religion would justify the senseless killings and wanton destruction caused to the people of the zone.

He said the food and non-food items provided were not donation but a gift as there is no donation among brothers.

The materials were sent to the less privilege displaced persons in the state by a renowned Egyptian Islamic scholar Sheik Ahmed Altayyid
