okezie ikpeazu, Abia State,The Abia State Government has frowned at the activities of street trading by the roadside because it is causing the administration huge revenue loss and defacing the city centres.

According to the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Kate Nwosu, a bill is presently at the State House of Assembly that would make street trading and hawking illegal and a criminal offence.

She hinted that when this bill is passed into law, it would ensure that anybody caught selling on the street would be prosecuted and tried in the mobile court.

Meanwhile, those selling perishables like vegetables, fruits amongst others have been advised by the government to quickly relocate to a neighborhood market, close to them because the administration would not condole any excuse from any defaulters as soon as the bill is passed into law.
