el-rufaiThe Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has vowed to prosecute the masterminds of the southern Kaduna violence.

The governor made this known, while speaking on Channels Television’s breakfast Programme, Sunrise Daily.

The governor gave a strong commitment to arrest and prosecute those already identified as being behind the violence.

He lamented the lackluster approach of previous administration in handling the issue and promised, that no one will escape justice this time around.

2011 Presidential Election

The governor noted that the crisis had been on going far back as 2011.

He explained that after the announcement of the 2011 presidential elections, the crisis started in many parts of the northern states, killing about 690-1000 people.

Although he identified that, the crisis in southern Kaduna had deepened over time.

The governor further explained that, during the administration of the late governor of the state, Patrick Yakowa from 2011-2012 the crisis reduced but later started again.

Division of Fulanis

He said that the Fulanis are divided into three types.

  • Settled Fulanis
  • Semi Fulanis
  • Trans-human-pastoral Fulanis

The governor stated that most of the killings in southern Kaduna are carried out by the trans-human-pastoral Fulani who do not stay in the country, but are from neighbouring African countries.
