Rivers RerunReports gathered, have indicate that the Local Government Election which took place in Yobe state, witnessed a peaceful and orderly conduct at the various polling stations.

It was also said while some polling stations recorded an impressive turn out of voters, some others recorded low attendance.

Electoral officers who granted audience to Channels Television, praised the overall conduct of the exercise.

The State Deputy Governor, Abubakar Aliyu, attested to the peaceful nature of the election, commending the organisers and security agencies after casting his vote at Yindiski polling unit of Dogo-Nini ward of Potiskum town.

“I am quite impressed with the turnout and orderly conduct of the exercise I must say, and I give credit to organisers and security agents for the various roles in ensuring the success of the exercise”.

Also attesting to the peaceful conduct of the exercise, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Sumonu Abdulmaliki, said; “So far so good, we have not received any negative report across the state going by the cooperation and support we have received so far”.

An observer, Ijodo Charles, however questioned the non-participation of some major opposition parties in the election.

“I am impressed with the peaceful nature of the entire process, but my biggest problem is the non-participation of some major opposition parties in the exercise”.

The Yobe Local Government election is the third exercise in a row recorded in Yobe State since 2009, despite the insecurity bedeviling the state.

Seven political parties contested for Chairmanship and Councillors positions in the election.
