tyre_burningThe Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Mr. Felix Obuah has vowed to bring to book those behind burning of tyres in the State.

This is in reaction to a recent tyre-burning incident, which almost razed down buildings, risking the lives of residents in the area which became an inferno that lasted for several hours before it was put out successfully.

The State Waste Agency Boss however vowed to investigate the cause of the illegal burning of tyres along Nzemanze Street and other parts of the State.

Mr Obuah insisted that the culprits will be brought to book.

Meanwhile, the agency had earlier warned residents against the act of tyre burning, stating it had a the negative effect. While recalling the recent inferno which almost destroyed properties worth millions of naira, along Nzemanze Street, opposite Rivers State Health Management Board, Mile 1, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

He also urged citizens of the state to work with the State Government to bring to an end the menace of black soot, by stopping illegal and indiscriminate burning of tyres in Port Harcourt.
