Twenty Three communities including Opaha in Apa Local Government and Daula Jato communities, are benefiting from the One Billion Naira Benue state rural electrification project, as they break the jinx of darkness.
The Special Adviser on Rural Development, Mister Adzer Abya while inspecting the functional electricity projects in company of some members of the Benue state Executive Council, urged contractors handling the Uturugh power project to ensure timely completion.
A retired Warrant Officer from Opaha community in Apa Local Government, commend the governor Samuel Ortom led administration for bringing civilization to his people, who throughout their lives, use local lanterns for visibility at night.

Communities like Opaha and Daula Jato in Apa and Gwer East local government areas, are among Ten communities already benefiting from the N1 Billion rural electrification project.
A retired Warrant Office from Opaha, Mister Christopher Ella, is full of appreciation to governor Samuel Ortom, for electrifying his community.
” This community has been for many years without light. Everybody here uses lamp and candle, but now that you people (government), has given us light, we are enjoying it and we are very happy”.
The Special Adviser on Rural Development and Cooperatives in Benue State, Mister Adzer Abya, explain the rural electrification projects in Twenty Three communities across the state, costing about a Billion Naira.
” We have spent almost a Billion Naira on electrification in Benue state. We have over 23 electrical projects going on in the state and we have completed a few of them that are already working”.
The team also visited the Shawa rural electrification project in Taraku and Aondona Village before heading to Uturugh village.
While villagers in Uturugh want to enjoy electricity supply like other communities, the contractor, Mister Fidelis Audu and the head of Engineering from the Bureau, Mister Terkura Wuam, offer assessment leading to the expected power supply.
” We have done the project almost 80% and what is required of us now, is to step it down by providing a transformer here where the basement has already been constructed”.
” The line is 33 KVA, so we have designed to stepdown from the 33 KVA to distribution points which is 415, so the poles and fore cables you see here are for distribution and we have started the process, that is, high tension, sub-station and distribution”.
To demonstrate that indeed the N1 Billion projects are functional, the team visits Daula Jato communities at night to prove its claims of bringing electricity supply to local communities across the state.
