Marine Le Pen, the far-right French Presidential candidate has announced that she is stepping aside as the leader of her National Front (FN) party.

The move comes just a day after she reached the second round of the French election, where she would face centrist, Emmanuel Macron.

Le Pen told the media that she is taking this decision because she needs to be above partisan considerations.

Opinion polls suggested Mr Macron is firm favourite for the second round but Mrs Le Pen said that she is confident of victory.
