Sanusi, U.S. Envoy Commend Obiano’s Leadership StyleAnambra State workers under the joint associations of the Nigeria Labor Congress, (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the state chapter of the Nigerian Civil Service Union (NCU), have endorsed Governor Willie Obiano for a second term.

According to them, the endorsement is in recognition of his giant strides and achievements in the last three years in the state.

Also bestowed on the governor was the award of Best Labour-Friendly Governor of Anambra state since its creation.

The state Chairman of the NLC, Jerry Nnubia, said Obiano has not relented in prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pensions since he became governor.

He also lauded the fact that the governor pays other accruing benefits to workers including motivational packages in spite of the economic recession in the country.

Mr Nnubia therefore noted that it is with such confidence that the workers also believe that issues concerning the upward review of salaries as well as promotion of workers will be addressed.

Reacting to the gesture, the governor appreciated the organised labour unions for the endorsement and assured them that they would continue to receive priority attention all through his administration.

Thereafter, he directed the chairman of the State Civil Service to commence the process of promotion of workers while that of salary increase would be subject to the increment of the state internally Generated Revenue.

“The state is currently generating about 1.5 billion Naira in IGR, but if the IGR base increases to 2.5 billion Naira, I will increase your salaries again,” Mr Obiano stated.

He assured the workers that before the end of the year, one hundred workers would be proud owners of their own houses in the first batch of the one thousand units housing scheme for civil servants.

Governor Obiano also pardoned 13 prisoners and urged workers to be part of the ongoing voter registration exercise.
