Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by a cabal in the Presidency to use the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to remove him from office and rubbish his political career.
Senator Ekweremadu made the revelation at plenary on Wednesday when he read a letter which he said was written to him by an anonymous Nigerian who was part of the plot.
Based on the letter, he said the plot was meant to be executed on May 6 and 7 and included a search on a building in Enugu that the EFCC would claim to be his own, having initially planted foreign currencies and other incriminating documents in the building.
The alleged discovery would then be displayed for the media, he said.
The EFCC, however, denied the claims in a statement by its spokesperson, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren.
