The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has made public the Extent Provision of the Immigration Act 2015 and Immigration Regulations 2017, at the Cross River State House of Assembly.

The bill was presented before the House in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital by the state Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Funke Adeuyi.

According to her, the new regulation among other things is to checkmate smuggling of illegal migrants by individuals, because a majority of the sections have criminalized some immigration related offences.

She explained that, the objective of making the presentation public is to seek partnership with the House through the proper dissemination of the content act, while assuring the state of their relentless efforts in policing the land borders against illegal migration, child trafficking and other border related crimes.

The immigration boss further warned that, the law will come out to anyone in possession of two valid Nigerian International Passports and anyone caught will be arrested and made to face trial in a competent court of Jurisdiction.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. John Gaul-Lebo urged members of the House to sensitive their constituents on the content of act and assured the Immigration Service, of a cordial working relationship in ensuring safety on the borders.
