The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has called on Nigerians to shun every recruitment announcement or invitation for interviews purportedly from the corporation as it is not recruiting.

The NNPC explained in a statement that scammers were trying to defraud Nigerians by publishing fake recruitment announcements on various social media platforms.

In a statement by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, on Friday, the NNPC said, “We are constrained to announce, once again, that NNPC is not recruiting at the moment.

“Members of the public are, therefore, advised to disregard any vacancy announcement on any online or social media platform as they are the handiwork of fraudsters intent on fleecing innocent Nigerians.”

The NNPC warned Nigerians that the scammers were relentless and had deployed several means to pass to pull off their scam, including sending text messages and sending out “forged letters inviting gullible job seekers for non-existing job interviews”.

“Anyone who entertains such invitations or deals with peddlers of such invitation does so at his or her own risk,’’ the NNPC warned.

It advised those that receive such invites to report to the relevant security agencies and assured Nigerians that it would be transparent in its operations including recruitment exercises.
