The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) Mr Victor Oye, has condemned the process of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise as it pertains to Anambra state.

Mr Oye said while the Anambra citizens are enthusiastic about the exercise, considering the fact that the governorship election is just five months away, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is not ready.

He faulted the idea of having one machine for one local government because according to him, no Local Government Area has less than 20 wards and thousands of prospective voters.

While frowning at the idea of 30 voters per day in each LGA, he demanded that INEC gives priority attention to the state and deploy more Data Capturing machines.

He also requested that more staff be deployed so as to enable as many people as possible participate in the election slated for November 18.

“For us in APGA, we are not happy and we are going to do everything possible within the ambit of the law to ensure that justice is done.

“If this is a design to shortchange our people or cause confusion in our election, we are not going to tolerate it. As a political party, we will fight with everything we have to ensure that there is justice and fair play.

“I cannot understand a state that is going for an election on November 18 this year, being treated this way.

“For me, this is not working and something has to be done. Since it is a continuous exercise, what INEC should do now with immediate effect is to deploy more machines to Anambra state, to all the 21 Local Government Areas. At least five machines per local government in Anambra. Give Anambra some priority,” he stressed.
