Wayne Rooney, EvertonRobbie Savage says age and not playing regular games is catching up with Manchester United Captain, Wayne Rooney.

The former United player noted that Rooney is the most under-appreciated player in English football, adding that he is not the player he used to be.

“He gets hammered and yet he is Manchester United’s and England’s top scorer. He is a professional, his work ethic is very good, you can see his temperament is still the same.

“When he gets a decision against him, he goes berserk. That is the same old Wayne Rooney. He is not the player he was, but he is the most under-appreciated footballer we have seen in English football,” Salvage told BBC.

Rooney, who joined the Red Devils from Everton in 2004, played against Arsenal and is fit to face Celta Vigo.

His future, however, looks uncertain after a frustrating and injury-hit season in which he has scored only seven goals, while he hopes to help United win the Europa League.
