No fewer than 5,000 persons from the All Progressive Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP) and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defected members were received during the PDP Enugu West Zonal Executive Meeting coming just a week after the former Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime registered with APC and promised to deliver Enugu to APC in 2019.

The leader of the defected group Mr Mathias Nnukwuagu, a former APC Chieftain, told the gathering that their decision was based on Governor Ugwuanyi’s humble disposition, visionary leadership and commitment to the welfare of the people.

“We on our own without influence by anybody decided to leave APC and join PDP.

“The saying that when the righteous is in authority the people rejoice; your Excellency, you represent the righteousness of heaven and the people are rejoicing. We in one voice commit ourselves to keeping your good works ongoing. We want to keep the good work of PDP going”.

On his part, the state PDP Chairman, Augustine Nnamani who received them, urged them to align and abide by the rules of the party.

Meanwhile, Governor Ugwuanyi who was excited about the support from the people of Enugu west reiterated his commitment towards serving the people of the state.
