Slovakia’s Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) captured stage 3 of the Amgen Tour of California on Tuesday in a powerful sprint to the finish line in Morro Bay.
Sagan took the stage in a time of 4:53:26 ahead of Rick Zabel of Team Katush-Alpecin and Simone Consonni of UAE Team Emirates who were awarded the same time.
Poland’s Rafal Majka (Bora-Hansgrohe) finished stage 3 in a time of 12:22:43 to retain the yellow jersey after winning stage 2 in a thrilling finish Monday in San Jose. New Zealand’s George Bennett of Team Lotto-NL-Jumbo was in second place overall 0:02 seconds behind and Ian Boswell of Team Sky was 14 seconds off the lead.
