The Speaker House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara has called on Nigerian politicians to always relate with one another irrespective of political affiliation, to foster unity in order to improve the living standard of the people at the grassroots.
Hon. Dogara stated this in Kabba Bunu west senatorial district of Kogi state during a programme organised by a members of the House of Representatives to alleviate poverty.
He said the only way meaningful development can reach the electorate is when politicians shun any forms of political sentiment and work as one individual entity in the interest of the citizenry and peaceful coexistence of the nation.
He charged politicians to always give back to their constituencies through programmes that can alleviate their suffering, adding that the government alone cannot provide all the needs of the people
Present at the occasion were traditional rulers from the west senatorial district, party loyalist from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Party (APC) were also present, top government functionaries, members from the House of Representatives were also not left house, market women and clergy men from both religion were also present to witness the programme.
The governor of the state represented by the Special Adviser on Security, Commander Omodara also noted that the present administration has provided a conducive atmosphere for peace and unity within the state.
