There was pandemonium in Ipetu Ijesa town in Osun State when some officers of the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Safety, Ipetu Ijesa, allegedly beat up and injured some workers and students of Osun State University, Ipetu Ijesa Campus.

A video which was recorded secretly and made available to Channels TV’s correspondent, indicated that some officers invaded the campus.

In the video, a red patrol van was seen parked inside the campus and a total of 23 officers were seen armed with guns.

Although the cause of the invasion and brutal attack in the institution is yet to be known, a resident who claimed anonymity said: “The Air Force men came to arrest some students, who they claimed were involved in internet fraud and on the course of the operation several people were injured severely.

“No fewer than 11 students were injured in the attack while two workers were also injured as the military men used gun butts, cutlass and sticks freely on anyone they came across.”

It was also gathered that the officers invaded the campus again after the first attack that led to several people being hospitalized.

When contacted via telephone, the Commandant of the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Safety, Air Commodore Jolasinmi said he was out of Ipetu Ijesa on an official assignment but he had instructed that a panel be set up to look Into the case and authenticate the claim of the residents and the students.

He, however, gave an assurance that the Air force would not condone indiscipline, stating that any officer found guilty would be dealt with accordingly.

In the meantime, the Ipetu Ijesa campus of Uniosun has been shut temporarily
