Former President, Goodluck Jonathan says the implementation of the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference will answer the key challenges currently facing Nigeria.

The former President who was speaking during the golden jubilee anniversary lecture of Rivers State, in Port Harcourt, the state capital, advocated that states should endeavour to become viable.

“Yes in many areas as a nation, we are doing well but there are still some other areas that agitate the minds of our people and as a government you need to address this.

“I remember in August 2013, Professor Ben Nwabueze led the patriots and one of the issues they raised was this issue of National Conference.

“Other groups came up but I insisted that we must have a conference that will look at these grey areas that affect our people, those areas that are retarding our development and fine tune it for the good of our children and grandchildren,” Mr Goodluck stated.

Several other dignitaries were gathered at the event to brainstorm on the topic: Democracy and Development in Nigeria – and the conclusion was that ongoing conversations about solving the national question must continue to be accorded priority.
