NOA-National-Orientation-Agency-Voting-NigeriansThe National Orientation Agency (NOA) has launched an initiative tagged Local Government Assembly aimed at engaging and sensitising Nigerians, especially people at the grass roots, about the policies, programmes and activities of the Federal Government.

The Director-General of the NOA, Mr Garuba Abari, said the launch of the initiative would go a long way in reducing rumour-mongering, insinuations and wrong notions about government’s plans and policies.

Mr Abari said this during the inauguration of the South-East zonal campaign of the initiative held in Okwe, Onuimo Local Government area of Imo State.

He added that the Buhari’s administration had kept faith with its promises of delivering the dividends of democracy to the masses, especially in the areas of anti-corruption fight, job creation, social intervention programmes, security and power.

He urged Nigerians at the grassroots to take advantage of the numerous life-changing policies of the Federal Government.

The Imo State Director National Orientation Agency, Mr Vitus Ekeocha, the Local Government Assembly is aimed at creating a platform for robust interaction with people at grass-root level, giving them opportunity to have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of government policies and programmes.

This, he said, would enable them to benefit from these programmes and policies.

Traditional rulers, religious leaders, trade unions, and civil society groups as well as youth organisations were among those who attended the event.

The Federal Government says the local government assembly initiative will be launched in all the six geopolitical zones of the federation, hoping that at the end of the campaign, people at the grass roots will have a better understanding of government’s policies and programmes, which will enable them benefit enormously.
