Wenger Has Been Under Pressure For Decades - LaurenArsene Wenger has hinted at his desire to stay on at Arsenal after the Gunners outclassed Premier League Champions Chelsea to win the FA Cup.

Goals from Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey ensured a 2-1 victory for Arsenal and handed Wenger a record 7th FA Cup win.

The victory is also makes Wenger’s side the most successful in the FA Cup with 13 titles.

And the Frenchman who has endured a torrid season with fans demanding his exit in series of protest seem interested tin marching on with the Gunners.

He, however, believes it is up to the board.

“I believe that I just want to do well for this club and, apart from that, I think after, it’s down to the board members. Am I right the man to lead this club further and for me to decide, I am the right man to lead this club further and that’s it. It’s not about popularity, it’s about competence,” Wenger said after the game.

When pressed further by a reporter about whether he feels he is the right man for the club, he said, “Look, I believe because you cannot make 30-35 years at the top level if you don’t believe you’re the right man to do the job.”

The questions and uncertainties about his future did not stop him from celebrating the FA Cup title, however.

“I’m very proud because if nobody had done it since 18-God knows when until today, it means it’s not easy. I’m especially proud of the way we won this season because in the semi-final we had to play against Man City here, in the final against Chelsea here, and you cannot get tougher and we had two outstanding performances so this cup was won with a special spirit and special attitude,” he said.

Wenger said the victory was even more fulfilling “because nobody gave us a chance and we responded I think with attitude and class and we’ve seen that today.”
