The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, says he will not resign from office despite pressure over his alleged double registration during the voter registration exercise.
In a statement on Sunday by his Director-General on Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwon, the governor described those calling for his resignation as political jokers.
He stated that the issue of double registration during the exercise was overblown by his opponents to score cheap goals.
Governor Bello maintained that the issue was straight forward enough, saying he welcomes the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to cancel the latter registration.
He noted that the Kogi State House of Assembly will not be blackmailed into reversing the gains of democracy in the state.
