Benue Police Challenge Farmers, Herdsmen On Agatu Peace Deal

Rice Anchor Borrowers' Programme, CBN, ImoDisplaced farmers in Yobe State have been presented with irrigation implements to enhance food production in the state.

The support came from the North East Regional Initiative (NERI), as part of measures to empower returning Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.

The Coordinator of NERI, Abacha Kachalla, explained that the development was to complement the efforts of the government towards their recovery process.

He assured the people that NERI would continue to assist the IDPs in ensuring that their means of livelihoods was encouraged towards the development of the state and Nigeria as a whole.

“Let me assure you that my organisation will continue to help in rehabilitating the Internally Displaced Persons and the less privilege generally.

“I call on you not to sell these materials but to use them for the purpose intended,” Kachalla urged.

The beneficiaries, numbering 200 and drawn from Geidam Local Government Area, were presented with water pumps and generators, as well as some tools in order to commence farming as they return to their ancestral homes after the Boko Haram insurgency.

The beneficiaries could not hide their gratitude as they expressed optimism that the gesture would go a long way in their recovery process.

The Chairman of Geidam LGA, Mr Mulima Idi-Mato, also lauded the gesture and urged the beneficiaries not to sell the implements they have received.

“Let me use this opportunity to thank NERI for this gesture and to urge the beneficiaries to make the best use of the materials received.

“I also urge the beneficiaries to make the best use of the materials in improving their lives, as it will go a long way in the enhancing economic development of the country as well,” Idi-Mato said.
