A few days after the management of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital locked their resident doctors out of their secretariat, the physicians have taken to the grounds in a peaceful protest.

The doctors, who were joined by other staff members of the hospital, reiterated their complaints of substandard conditions, unpaid entitlements and others.

According to them, the protest was about the substandard conditions under which they work.

Holding up placards and singing, the workers demanded the payment of outstanding salaries and allowances as well as better conditions of service.
They said they were ready to work, but only if adequate and functioning equipment are available.

They, however, expressed willingness to hold talks with the management about their grievances.

The hospital authorities declined to comment.

A few days ago it was a free for all on the marble floor of the hospital after the authorities locked the secretariat of the Association of Resident Doctors in the hospital with the intention of repossessing it.
