England, New Zealand Seek Tightened Security Ahead Of MatchEngland national cricket team captain Eoin Morgan said on Monday that the latest militant attacks in the country have been on the team’s mind.

This follows the attack by militants on Saturday, June 3 which left seven persons dead and 48 others wounded, out of which 18 are said to be in critical condition.

Morgan noted that it was best for the players to speak about the attack but he thought they would be able to remain fully focused in Tuesday’s match against New Zealand.

On his part, New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill said the team were getting security assurances by the tournament organisers.

England topped the group after a win against Bangladesh while New Zealand’s opening game against Australia was halted due to poor weather.
