NDLEA Reiterates Resolve To Tackle Illicit Drug TradeThe National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the menace of illicit drug trade and abuse in Nigeria.

The agency said the move was part of efforts to curtail the use of funds accruing from such drugs to fuel insurgency, international terrorism and global destabilisation.

The Chairman of NDLEA, Retired Colonel Muhammad Abdallah stated this at a news conference in Abuja ahead of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

He said the agency has kept faith with its operational promise of intensive and extensive policing of the nation’s air, sea and land borders which has made it difficult for cartels to operate.

Abdallah noted that improved operations of the NDLEA have also led to a marginal decline in both arrests and seizures of illicit drug traffickers.
