Sallah: Police Ban Vehicular Movement Before Prayers In MaiduguriThe Police have informed the residents of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere Local Government that there will be restriction of vehicular movement until after the Eid prayers on Sunday, June 25.

The spokesman for the Borno State Police Command, Mr Isuku Victor, announced this in a statement issued on Friday.

He explained that the move by the command was to ensure a crime and hitch-free celebration in Borno State, North-East Nigeria.

“The restriction will include the use of motor vehicles, tricycles, bicycles and animals except those on essential duties. This restriction though regrettable is necessary in view of recent security concerns. Muslim faithful are therefore advised to pray at Eid prayer grounds close to their homes,” Mr Victor said.

The Command urged residents to be security conscious at all times and also report any strange or suspicious persons, movements or objects to the nearest police station or other security agencies.
