Yemi OsinbajoThe Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo says the best qualities of citizenship can be found in Christianity and Islam.

Professor Osinbajo, who made the remark on Sunday when he received the Sallah homage delegation at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, called for unity of faith between both religions.

“The best attributes of citizenship can be found in the faith. What are those attributes? Love for one another, genuine integrity in our relationships with ourselves, with the government resources and funds, the desire to do good for the majority of our people,” he said.

The Acting President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s determination to do everything possible to keep Nigeria united.

He also stressed the need for Nigerians to partner with government to help the less privileged, saying poverty was the same in every part of the country.

“When you look at the hundreds of thousands of our people everywhere in this country, poverty is the same (and) it doesn’t wear a different face. Whether you are poor in Lagos, in Sokoto or in Aba, poverty is the same.Your religion doesn’t matter and that is why for us, it is so important that we work together to make sure that our country is able to take care of its millions of people and this is what God expects of us. God expects us to take care of the poor, to take care of the suffering and to ensure that we use government resources only in such a way as to enhance the good of the majority of our people.
