Police, Kidnappers, Igbodu, Epe, LagosThe latest revelation from the Nigeria Police shows that there is more to the exploits recorded by the kidnapped kingpin Chukwudi Onuwamadike, also known as Evans, in his several years of operation.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, explains that a soldier and a pillar of the team one lance corporal has been arrested for being a member of the gang of kidnappers led by Evans.

According to the police, the team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari arrested the soldier in Ojo, Lagos State, after weeks of surveillance.

The source said that a confession made by Evans led to the arrest of the soldier who was a member of the Army band at Abalti Barrack, Surulere.

Before this arrest, the kidnap kingpin had told the investigative team during interrogation that some notable people collaborated with him in his operations for seven years.

The soldier collected N2 million, N1.5 million and N3 million respectively as his share from kidnapping.

The Nigerian Police Force earlier in the month paraded the leader of a notorious kidnap gang Evans, alongside six other members behind many abductions that have instilled fear in Nigerians.

The police said the suspected kidnap kingpin and his gang members were arrested on Saturday at Magodo Estate in Lagos after “an intense gun battle” with the Joint Special Forces led by the Intelligence Response Team, the Lagos State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Technical and Intelligent Unit of the Force under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.
