Abacha LootThe World Bank has given a total of 215 million dollars to communities across the country, for execution of rural development projects under its community and social development scheme.

About 31 states of the federation signed the subsidiary loan agreements for the funding mechanism, which is deducted at source through the Ministry of Finance.

The projects will see to the poor members of the communities including education, water supply, health, rural electrification, transportation and environment.

The multilateral institution however remains open to extend funding to interested states, as it plans to work with Nigeria on functional mechanisms.
