Nasarawa Govt To Begin Audit Of Public Schools

The Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, said an audit of all schools will be carried out to ensure an enabling and conducive learning environment for pupils in the state.

The governor disclosed this to reporters after inspecting some school facilities within Lafia, the state capital.

He said the move would serve as a guide to the government in the procurement of learning equipment and employment of teachers, especially where there was a shortage of manpower.

“The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has prepared to go round the state to ensure the demographic statistics of all schools in terms of number of classrooms, number of furniture and number of students in each nook and cranny of the state so that at the end of the day, we would have statistical data that would guide the procurement of equipment, employment teachers and all that it takes to provide quality education,” Al-Makura said.

He further hinted that arrangements were in top gear by the state government for the commencement of learning in special specials across the state.

In his words, the governor said: “We have concluded a meeting where we set the pace for the commencement of admission to special schools because for the first time in the history of the state, we are now dedicating set of schools for people living with disabilities and since the school will be commissioned in the next few weeks, we feel the children who are supposed to be admitted in the school should start the process of admission now”.
