Five Feared Dead As Tanker Explodes In Kaduna

Commercial bus drivers in Kaduna state capital are protesting against what they describe as unhealthy extortion and harassment by personnel of the State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA).

The drivers who staged a protest in the metropolis to draw the attention of the relevant authorities are appealing to the state government to ban the state traffic agency for the interest of peace in the state

The Commercial bus drivers took to the roads protesting what they describe as wanton extortion for sundry offences by Traffic Officers in the Kaduna state capital.

According to them, whenever they are arrested by men of KASTLEA, they are forced to cough out N20,000 and above to get their vehicles back.

The protest paralyzed movement for many hours as a lot of residents had to walk to their places of work, while commercial buses were still not operating on the city major roads.

As the protest was going on, the Kaduna state Police Command however deployed its men across the route of the protesters to ensure that the situation does not get out of hand.

Meanwhile, the management of the Kaduna State Traffic Agency has denied any wrong doing in its operations.

The Assistant General manager of the agency explains that all its activities were backed by the relevant laws of the state.
