Senator Sani was slammed with an 11-months suspension by the party leadership in November 2015 but the suspension which elapsed on Tuesday was renewed indefinitely by the APC ward 6 in Tudun Wada and endorsed by seven local government chairmen of the party that makes up Kaduna Central Senatorial district.

In an interview on Channels Television Politics Today, he emphasized that he is a Senator in the APC.

On governance in the state, He noted that things are not going the way they are supposed to be, thereby criticizing the governor of the state, Nasiru El-Rufai for fractionalizing the party and not carrying people along in the state.

Senator Sani further noted that there is still room for reconciliation “But if things are not done properly, the turn out will be different in 2019”.

Earlier on July 30, violence erupted in Kaduna State following the exercise to elect delegates at the Local Government Congresses.

The incident occurred during a press briefing by some aggrieved members of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The briefing was organised to address concerns of misconduct after some protesting youths allegedly disrupted the exercise.

Youths were said to have gone on a rampage at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat, the venue of the press briefing after aggrieved Party members led by Senator Shehu Sani and Suleiman Hunkuyi alleged that the Congress did not follow the laid down procedures.
