Liverpool in a statement on Friday said the Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho is “definitively” not for sale.
On Wednesday, Liverpool rejected a second bid worth €100 million ($117.29 million) for midfielder Philippe Coutinho from Spain’s Barcelona.
Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group club in a statement said its “definitive stance” was that “no offers will be considered.
“Philippe will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”
Media reports indicate that Barcelona is targeting Coutinho as a replacement for Brazil forward Neymar, who joined Paris St Germain for a world record transfer fee of €222 million.
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp has repeatedly said that the 25-year-old, who was a key player for the Anfield outfit last campaign, would not be sold and the club’s position is boosted by Coutinho’s signing of a new five-year contract last season.
