Pakistan’s Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa attended a mass funeral on Sunday (August 13) for the victims of a bomb blast that killed at least 15 people near a crowded market in the Pakistani city of Quetta on Saturday (August 12).

The latest attack to hit the restive southwestern province of Baluchistan was claimed by Middle East-based Islamic State, which has a branch of loosely affiliated fighters in Afghanistan and Pakistan, saying a motorcycle suicide bomber had killed 17 soldiers.

According to a press release from army’s media wing the Governor of Baluchistan, Chief minister of Baluchistan, Federal Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Aamir Riaz Commander Southern Command and other Civil, military officials attended the funeral prayers.

The Army Chief also visited those injured in the blast at a military hospital in Quetta and was later briefed about the incident.
