The Deputy Director of Centre for Crisis and Support at French Foreign and European Affairs Ministry, Pierre Fournier has said that one Frenchman died during the attack in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

“The president of the Republic (Emmanuel Macron) immediately called his counterpart, President (Roch Marc Christian) Kabore to express the support of France, his condolences to the Burkinabe people and to offer him our cooperation and support.

The (Foreign and European Affairs) minister (Jean-Yves Le Drian) also called his counterpart to pass on the same message.”

“At this stage, the toll stands at 18 confirmed dead and around 20 wounded. And unfortunately, as you know, one of our fellow citizens died during the attack. The family has been informed, our services and those of the embassy (in Burkina Faso) are in touch with them in order to help them during this difficult time.”
