Tuesday’s attack by Boko Haram on a village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State killed 16 people and left 84 others injured, the police have said.

The Borno State Commissioner of Police, Damian Chukwu, said this in a statement on Wednesday, adding that victims of the attack have been evacuated to the state specialist hospital in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Chukwu also said that Explosive Ordinances Disposal and police teams visited the area after the attack and that normalcy has returned there.

Two female suicide bombers and a male counterpart had attacked a small motor park and market in Konduga town, which is the headquarters of Konduga LGA on Tuesday around 5:30 pm. The town is some 37 kilometres from Maiduguri.

It was gathered that the attackers took turns in detonating improvised explosive devices strapped to their bodies.

The attack occurred on the same day the military launched mobile strike teams in the North East to enhance the efficiency of the counter-insurgency operation in the region.
