Former Niger Delta militants who protested their non-inclusion in the post-amnesty programme early this month have tendered an apology to President Goodluck Jonathan for their unruly behaviour. The ex-militants early this month disrupted traffic in Gwagwalada in the Federal Capital Territory [FCT], demanding that the government return their guns to them.
Addressing journalists at end of a meeting with the office of the National Security Adviser and the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta matters, the ex-militants said their action was as a result of lack of proper information on the post-amnesty programme.
They said that they now understand that the process of including them in the programme require certain legal procedures for government to include them in the post amnesty programme and expressed their readiness to patiently go through the process.
