Yobe state government relaxes curfew in Damaturu
A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Information said movement within Damaturu metropolis is now allowed between 10AM and 4.00PM daily as members of the public are to remain in their homes from 4.00 PM to 10. 00Am.
Restriction on public movement in other parts of the state according to the statement remains from 10.00AM to 6.00PM daily while restriction of movement in Potiskum town remains between 6.00AM and 6.00PM daily.
The statement further said the decision was taken following a meeting the state governorÂ Ibrahim Gaidam had with heads of law enforcement agencies in the state to review the security situation. The meeting pointed out that the restrictions will be subject to periodic reviews as the security situation in Damaturu and around the State continues to improve.
The statement added âthe state government appreciates peopleâs patience and understanding over the last few days and calls on them to continue to cooperate with security agents and assist them in every way possible in their efforts to ensure peace and security as the task of ensuring and maintaining security is not just for the security agents alone but for every law abiding citizenâ.
âThe Governor prays the Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant peace, security and prosperity to our State and the nation in general and calls on members of the general public not to relent in their prayers for peace the statement concludeâ.
