Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Research, Documentation and Strategy, Mr. Douglas Oronto today made an appraisal of the Jonathan led administration’s fight against corruption.

Mr. Oronto said the president capitalised on the people’s disdain for corruption to pick a member of the Ribadu-led Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Lamorde, to head the anti-graft agency.

The presidential aide said Lamorde was redeployed to a remote area in the north when Mrs. Farida Waziri was the chairman of the agency for reasons best known to her.

Mr Oronto was speaking from Channels Television’s Abuja studio as a guest on the TV station’s weekend flagship programme, Sunrise Saturday.

He said “When Dr. Jonathan came into office he looked at the question of corruption and he said Nigerians don’t have faith in Farida, that Mrs. Farida is not fighting corruption, that Nigerians have faith in Ribadu led anti-corruption fight campaign, and there was another man who was in the engine room of that anti-corruption campaign initiative, that is Lamorde.

Lamorde had been posted to one village in the far north whether as punishment or whatever we don’t know. Dr Jonathan said bring that man who was in the engine room of the Ribadu campaign, let him come and take over EFCC”.
