The Special Task Force in Plateau State has launched emergency telephone numbers for internal security operations to be effectively conducted by security agents.

“There must be cooperation and support of the public through provision of information and reliable intelligence in combating insecurity’.

Special Task Force commander, Major General Henry Ayoola while speaking at the launch of the emergency telephone numbers at the task force headquarters in Jos, explained that “successful internal security operations requires intelligence for attainment of the mandate which is largely dependent on human intelligence provided by the civil populace, hence the numbers and handbills to serve as avenues for passage of information especially in emergency situations”.

He said the process is a part of the ongoing peace building efforts in the state and also an avenue for people to pass information to security agents in emergency situations.

He also expressed optimism that the passage of timely information to the task force and other security services will enhance quick response to any threat or security challenge.

Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang urged the military to work together with other security agencies in order to achieve the desired results.

President of the Institute of Governance and Social Research (IGSR), Professor Joe Isawa Elaigwu, also observed that peace attainment is a matter of the mind that requires building process.

With the launch of the dedicated emergency phone numbers and handbills by the special task force in Plateau state as means of receiving information especially in emergency situations, citizens in the state should also take advantage of the opportunity by providing necessary and adequate information to the security agencies.
