Singapore has offered to assist Nigeria to expand its skill acquisition centers in order to harness the potentials of the nation’s youths.

The Ambassador of Singapore to Nigeria, Mr. Shabbir Hassanhai said the establishment of skill acquisition centers in the 36 states of the federation will help curb crimes in the country

The Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund, Professor Longmas Wapmuk estimated that N4 billion will be required to establish 25 skill centers in order to properly harness the potentials of the nation’s youths.

He noted, the skill acquisition center provides 5 skill programmes but can offer 15 programmes if expanded.

Professor Wapmuk who received officials from the Embassy of Singapore said there is the need for introduction of more programmes at the center to meet the needs of young Nigerians who want to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

While the nation has in recent times been confronted with issues of insecurity and increased crime rate, the Ambassador of Singapore to Nigeria said the establishment of skill acquisition centers in the 36 states of the federation is necessary.

He also added that Singapore will be willing to assist Nigeria to harness the potentials of its youths.
