Public analyst Galtima Liman has blamed the persistent collapse of security in Northern Nigeria on the dearth of leaders and constituted authority that can call people to order when going astray.

Mr Lima stated this while discussing the recent killing of polio vaccines administrators in Kano on our breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily.

There is no more authorised body that can tell what the ‘Fatwā’ or Islamic doctrine is on crises such as the polio killings and claim by some religious leaders that are refusing the administration of polio vaccines in their community because the vaccines are laced with other diseases.

According to Mr Liman, the system collapsed by the local government reforms which took away the authority from the Emir who were like the Senators in that era.

He called for a constituted Council of Islamic Authority to liaise with the local chiefs who must be worked with to work out strategies in addressing this challenge.
